Childish Games

Childish Games

To think that I grew up playing with the love of my life

Without even a thought that I’d soon be his wife

How crazy the world works right?

We met at this park in Summerville Villas

Only 6 years old our parents were with us

And ever since then we were tight

Only 2 days apart, we shared parties together

And our mothers would force us to church or whatever

We hung out almost everyday

He was the peanut butter I was the jelly

Every where he would go that’s where I would be

But I never looked at him in that way

Then high school came he started to get bigger

And me of course grew into my figure

And things became a little weird

Somehow, after time we lost sight of each other

And I’d only see him between class with his lover

Things were no longer what they appeared.

Graduation finally came our way

And my friend eventually found the words to say

How he really felt about me through the years

Now were here.

And I’m grown

And I’m thinking, how could I not have known?

All of the feelings that he must’ve shown

Back then, I was like stone

Mad and alone

I was a child filled with a naive tone

And yet he still loved me

And he saw something in me

And what I would soon be

…come

I am so thankful for him

For blessing me with wisdom.
