A Child's Eyes

Having seen the inside of life

I know that life is not what we hold so dearly

Between my parent’s slow reflexes to cover my eyes

And the world’s fear of history repeating

I don’t wanna learn anymore

Plagued by this disease that everyone knows the name of

Depression

But can’t fucking understand

And only by looking into the eyes of a child

Can life be seen

Before it is stripped away by the world’s beauty

That primitive will to survive

By crying desperately, shamelessly for its protector

Knowing that that is its goal

We created choices for ourselves

And forgot to make a cure

And even knowing the name of this Disease

We are left weak, and cowardly

Because for too long we cried for our protector

Because THEY were too weak to strengthen US

This perversion WE call life

That labels innocence as being stupid

And only by looking into a child’s eyes

Can we pretend we are doing something right

But when I look in their eyes

I see the life we are destroying
