Child's Mind

If only I Could do justice to the mosaic of air and sky To fly into delicious oblivion Like the grounded bird I once was How is it that a child Can amuse herself so That every blade of emerald grass Is a kingdom when freshly mown Children can superimpose the mind On their surroundings, with all its crevices And frolic and prance under a sapphire blanket With crystals stitched in To the quilt of their minds The road ahead blushes with the hope of dawn As they flare their nostrils happily At the passing scents of lilac and rose The night filled with innocent mischief In their poor, naive age of repose Frolic, dear ones. Share your dreams. And hold on to that bright star as it gleams
