Child's World

The most outgoing of the species is children

They will walk up to strangers and strike up a conversation

The magical thing is, they don't see any reason for why this is a problem. . .

and maybe it's not

But the thing is..

When adults tell their children "stranger danger" they are teaching them it is a bad thing to reah out to others

Or a bad thing that they want to be friendly with another being

When we do this, we are shrinking their confidence in approaching others and pushing them back to a zone where which we deem they should remain

The next few times this occurs, the child becomes less confident and more willing to remain in their "supposed" comfort zone

When this happens on multiple occassions, children are restricted to thier zone

But if they remain in their zone, they will be deserted

Left by those who care because they are pushed out of the child's life

The comfort zone gets smaller, and the social circle gets smaller as well

If this pattern continues, they get constrained and strangled by what used to be their comfort and their safety

So maybe when children are being friendly, we should not chop down their enthusiasm, but rather, allow thier confidence to inflitrate our comfort zone
