The Chill

A cold chill ran up my bare arms, once it reached my spine my eyes slashed open.

As my vision cleared I saw where I was.

An icy despair. No. A heaven that has frozen over.

Looking around there were icikles dangling  from the ceiling.

The floor was covered with a thin sheet of snow. "Beautiful." Was all that I could say.

When I exhaled I saw my breath. There was no way this was real.

I told myself repeatedly.

I squeezed my eyes shut as hard as I could.

And when I opened them . . .

my icy paradice had vanished. Sadly something else had taken its place.

The blistering heat.
