Chocolate
In the beginning, God created Adam
Then he created Eve
For it is not good for man to be alone
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth
and the cocoa bean
because he knew how hard life could be
And he saw that it was good
So good, that he made different flavors
Dark, Milk, White
For it is not good for man to be alone
There are things essential for the body
Food, Shelter, Clothing
But how about the things essential for the heart
No one speaks of the necessities of the heart
Love, peace, joy
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate
In the beginning, God looked over the darkness
And said, “Let there be light”
And there was chocolate
For it is not good for man to be alone
The smooth, silky texture
The delicious, decadent taste
Your heart thanks you
Because it’s the little things in life that count
1,2,3 pieces of chocolate
4 me
5, 6,7 pieces
I just 8
9, 10, 1100
Well, let’s not count calories
But instead
The bliss of a kiss
The flight on the wings of dove
To be nestled nesquickly in the cold of the winter
Curled up by the fireplace so that you’re warm inside and out
Water to the body
Is chocolate to the heart
Pumping love
Instead of blood
To every last inch
Through the length of your fingertips
The chip to my cookie
The taste in my milk
The blanket to my pretzel
The needle in the haystack of trail mix
A piece of peace
Peace I leave with you
My peace I give you
Do not let your hearts be troubled
If loving chocolate is wrong
Then I don’t want to be right
Chocolate is patient
Chocolate is kind
Chocolate is not rude
Chocolate is not self-seeking
Chocolate protects, trusts, hopes, preserves
Chocolate is love
For it is not good for man to be alone
