The Choice

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Eight days, only eight,
Your heart beats already.
A mistake, she calls you
But mistakes can be miracles.
Will she adore you, or abandon you?
They call it her choice.
Shame, grief, guilt,
Emotions bombard her.

Nineteen weeks later,
You can hear the cutting words.
"Not a life, only a fetus"
"Your body, your choice."
You may not understand
But she does.
Choices everywhere; unescapable things.
They attack in swarms, forcing her decision.
Opinions smother her
She's lost and confused.
College, career, family
Her plans swirl down the drain.

You're growing inside her,
Each day getting bigger.
She's starting to believe the lies;
"It's not a human yet," she says.
Caught in the deception,
She makes up her mind.

A baby is there,
And then it is not.
Growing
And growing
And growing...
...and gone.

Regret consumes her
More than her "love" did.

Silence.
