The Choice

"I want to change the world"

No, wait,

(it is the entire world after all)

what if they don't like the change?

what if they get jealous?

what if they hate me?

What if I hate myself?

I don't consider myself

enough

important enough

I am not enough to be part of the world

that speaks for the whole world

Ich bin kein Weltstueck

I cannot speak for Germany (not decently at all)

I cannot speak for Lebanon

I cannot speak for a singular American teenage girl

Neither can I speak for a whole Nation,

an entire world

an entity beyond the world (Assuming there is one, or is not)

I will not speak for the world

when I cannot speak for myself...yet

I will not speak for myself

I will think for myself

about myself;

to know myself

Because

I want the world to change

even if I do not change the world

the world will change

(the world has changed)

And maybe that's what I want

the ability to change

not a mandate to change

not a compulsion to change 

a willful change

And that is why I choose

To change notjing at all
