Choices

Your goal in life is to be happy

And to find your Truth

But when you have both

And the two don’t work together

What do you do?

Which do you choose?

Your Happiness?

Or the Truth?

You spend time debating

You don’t know which path to choose

Instead, you begin contemplating

Asking yourself, “How can I hold onto these two

Things I don’t want to lose?”

You think you can figure it out

I mean, how hard can it be?

Anybody can see that

Something as true and as real as this

Was obviously meant to be

So you make it work

Or at least you try…

But the more you hold on to

Your Happiness

The more you begin to push

Your Truth to

The side

You re-evaluate your actions

Trying to strike a balance between the two

But it seems you just can’t get it right

The more you give into one,

The more of the other you stand to lose

You are unsure of everything

How you feel, what to do…

All you know for sure is one thing:

You are going to have to make a decision

And you need to do it soon

As hard as it is and as much

As it pains you,

You choose to let go of your Happiness…

In favor of

Your Truth

Where does that leave you now?

What do you do once you’ve had to let go

How do you deal with the sorrow, loss,

And aching pain all on your own?

How do you tell your heart that

You did the right thing and

That should be enough?

How do you silence the feelings

That you really don’t want to let go of?

They say that time heals every wound

But not this one, you see

Because all you can tell yourself is

‘’No one else is to blame for any of this

Except for me…”
