A Christmas Gift

A little boy lays in his bed as warm as a bun fresh out of the oven

His night light warming his face like the sun setting on the sea

His mind racing like a clock waiting for the next sun to rise

As he wakes he sprints down the stairs like a racing bullet to open the presents under the tree

His little brother hotter than a jalopeno that his older brother didnt wait to open the gifts

Not until his 12th birthday did older brother realize what he did

Laying in the dark abyss of his room with no light warming his face this year

His mind calm as the early morning dew covering the ground

He thinks of his brohter who is as excited as a family holding their new born child

He wakes and moves out of bed as slow as a turtle

Little brother waiting by the tree smiling from ear to ear

I smile back knowing this is the greatest gift of all
