Chromosome
Little and wanting to have a brother
What a gift that would be
Begged and pleaded for so long
Thank you father and mother
Wondering and wanting you to be
What's taking so long
Sitting and waiting all day
All I want is to see
Fragile and afraid to touch
What's wrong with everyone
Crying and expecting the worst
Just want a brother so much
Holding and explaining Down syndrome
What's the big deal
Confused and not understanding
Why and who cares about a chromosome
Different and slower than others
What do I care
Run and play just the same
I still thank you father and mother
