Cigarettes
Dear cigarette smokers,
Here’s my story:
It all started a couple years ago,
“Smoking causes cancer” yeah, I know.
At the age of 14, I didn’t know much of nicotine,
I still believed in Wolverine and ate off Kid Cuisines.
But I mean…
It’s not all that awful, because when I ignite the light I see a little sparkle.
But it does have its side effects;walking in a room smelling a mess.
It also comes with things more complex like the changing of my skin-
Not to mention I’m only 19 looking 27.
And the fact that I have the lack and dulling of my senses,
I leave my mother wondered where my sense is.
And you would think, that with my teeth turning yellow, that I would find a way to let go.
But I can’t…
At least not right now, I know.
With all the nicotine running through my stream,
Letting go right now would be a little extreme.
Although, I often have wet dreams, can hardly taste my ice cream, or my pizza when I order my favorite supreme;
Letting go right now would be merely a dream.
But it’s tearing down my self esteem,
It seems like a scheme.
And I seem to be running low on the defense team,
With my inability to fight infections.
I have no protection.
And the fact that I always have to catch my breath when walking up steps doesn’t help.
You see, it really takes a toll on my physical health.
Coming from a family prone to cancer viruses,
I wish I would of known when I was younger that this thing was poisonous.
My doctor just delivered the news,
I have lung cancer.
At the time I didn’t know how to answer.
Due to secondhand smoke, I also found out my daughter will be staying in the hospital a little longer.
If only I was stronger, we wouldn’t be in any pain.
And the worst part is that I’m the only one to blame.
All in all I do have my regrets,
But who would of known that this would all be caused by a single cigarette.
