Cinderella

once upon a time

in a land far away

a girl was afraid of

a stranger who did not belong

and sisters who were fake

maybe just one, she says

taking the pill with a swig of water

wanting to see something new

as she faded out of reality

she saw strange mice

a carriage with horses

a fairy whom she didn't know existed

but as all things do

the pill wore off

and there she was

back at the castle

internally murdered with the harshness

of sinister sisters

and abusive mothers
