Cinderella No More

Cinderelly, Cinderelly

Let the name burn from whence it came

a name given out of spite

is no name at all

For you are more

That name is not yours

Who gave it to you?

A gold digging widow and two sisters who haven't

got a clue

of the truth, that it is they

who are worthy of ash and hay

Cinderella answer no more

to the sound of a bell ringing or a knock on the door

Unless the knock is of opportunity,

let it lead you to another city

not a prince who won't know your face

or feel like your beauty has a place

on his palace wall because of a pretty dress

not knowing your intellect, wit, and charm are better than the rest

Cinderella, this is the last of this name

burn it down, rise above the flame

like a Phoenix- born anew

and just for kicks, I suggest you leave your shoe.
