Cinderella Not So Sweet

'Along with age comes responsibility',

this phrase refuses to leave her be.

She is told this often due to irresponsibility,

but no one knows why she did what she did like me.

Not a soul looks at the cleaning girl a second time,

and no one tries to see if she feels alright.

They assume she's in her prime,

and wish her to always be bright.

The stories say,

not only will there be a Prince,

but he will also save the day.

This story causes her to wince.

They always said,

'You never truely understand someone until you stand in their shoes'

unfortuneately they don't keep the saying fed.

Instead, they continue to spread the news.

She turns to animals for companionship

and say she's gone mad

while keeping this idea in their grip

they change it into something bad.

She hid herself away, 

doing her chores with speed and silence

not wanting to come out and play

giving way to her shyness.

And now they wonder why

she stays hidden whenever possible

In a world without a single ally

wouldn't you stay away if optional?
