cinderella twist

what if cinderella tuned out to be African American

what if that was the reason she was treated like a slave

what if that’s the reason good old Cindy went to sleep so many nights with her body in pain

would you be outraged

or would you feel nothing

because if I was to compare this to America today I would feel something

me as a African American would be discussed

but wouldn’t be surprised

all fairy tales have unique ending

the prince was still mesmerized with her at the ball

he knew her leaving her shoe must have been fate

regardless of the skin cinderella still became the queen in the end

I wrote this poem just to prove love will always win over hate
