The Circle

All I'm praying is for the Lord to take the stress away

It's bearing down, I'm tryin' to break away

I don't deal with this on the day to day

So when it comes, I gotta take a break

I can't; it's being thrown in my face constantly

Like it's okay; that's not how it gotta be

I'm wobbling on this brink; it follows me

Like a shadow but y'all don't notice it's stopping me

I'm making this plea, guilty second-degree

It wasn't premeditated nor did it happen deliberately

It just happened; now I'm watching unhappily

I know it was my choice but I had to take that stand

And who said it'd be easy to be the first to reject commands?

And who said it'd be simple to make grown decisions?

And who said it'd be easy to simply stop the missing, the wanting, the limping?

Hurt by the chance that I was given

It put me in such an odd position now I'm facing opposition

With myself; it isn't supposed to be this way

But I guess that's why I gotta break away

Maybe I'll be happy on a later date

And maybe then I'll have the guts to say, or admit

That I was the one in the shadows, wanting

I'm sitting in the wings now, yes, haunting

They watch me in amazement now, yes, gawking

I'm following my heart now and these thought things

Sparking up a fire, bring the gasoline

I'm running this race alone, no track team

Haters and spectators I'm attracting

Thought you were doing something?

Compared to me, you're lacking

And who thought it would all start from pain?

And who said I'd beat them at their own game?

And who thought that they'd be the ones envying me?

But I've done it for all of their eyes to see
