Circles

Here?

No, not here.

There?

No, not there either.

So where?

Where do I belong?

I am not sure.

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

I’m lost in a gigantic corn field.

Acres and acres of corn, and I can’t see a way out.

I’m desperate now.

I run in every direction. All I see is corn.

The darkness is setting in.

The crows are starting to flutter away.

How can I fall down like this?

How can I give up?

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

I’m falling into an abyss.

Water surrounding me.

I sink deeper and deeper into the depths.

The water getting blacker by the passing meters.

I can’t breathe. My lungs are on fire.

I want to cry for help, but I can’t.

I try to move my arms. Try to move my legs.

Try to swim upwards, but I can’t.

I’m drowning in my ocean.

In an ocean I created.

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

Two sides.

There will always be two sides.

I can’t ignore one because the other one will always be there.

It doesn’t work like that.

Will the two ever meet?

Can they ever live together?

Union, acceptance, and love. Can I?

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

A shattered mirror on the floor.

Millions of miniscule pieces and shards.

Like a chandelier they shine on the tiles.

They glitter back as beautiful as ever,

But they are no longer one.

Can something so beautiful, be so broken?

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

Two identities, always at a war.

I’m in control! No, I am!

No one cares about your side.

Only one side matters.

But is that true?

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

I’m shackled down,

In a gray cell of some sort.

The chains are too heavy.

Everything is empty; not a soul in sight.

I want to give up.

Give in and stay bound down.

But it’s cold in here.

I don’t like the cold.

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

I scream.

I scream.

I scream.

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

No one can hear me.

No one can save me.

I have to save myself.

I have to come to peace with myself.

Can I?

I run around in circles.

Endless circles.

Trying to find myself, but I can’t.

I’ve had enough.

I follow the crows out of the corn field.

I control my arms and legs, and start to swim.

I find tape, and tape the shards back together.

I search for a key and break free of the shackles.

I take the two sides of myself and love them both.

There is one me, and the sides are a part of me.

I don’t run around anymore.

No circles for me.

I thought I couldn’t find myself, but I did.
