Circus Paint

The jazz saxophone The jitter of Charleston The vibrant xylophone Un-curtain the charlatan I come alive through rhythm and roar Doused in this white paint For the instant I am only a smile a giggle and a joy Like a jester cloaked in crystal  Causing white noise That instant past I am only a beed A jolly a toy and a dream Seen so small and yet so free Let this beed carry  Along with the others Frolicking under the  Strange Magentas and Wild Auburns For once we flow the same Hoops and rings Tied tall strings I propel from one and then from two The voices rise as I have amused To envy these exotic marbles So untouched by color  Reflecting only an emotions shade  While I assume  Only the pitch and tone  Of dust and opaque The instant now I wash this white I unveil the stain The appearance of night This ink of coal There they see  Little Boy Blacky Little ole me Gripping blades at whim To vanquish this self To vanquish this skin Aching in draperies of ruby strings I'd drown in blood Long the color would sting
