City

I suppose to someone born in the city,

It’s fairly easy to make myself at home.

Streetlamps and coffee stains,

Buzzing with modern-day hippies, it’s hard to be alone.

Play mindless

Limitless

“Eye-spy” and “people watch”

But look away fast when you realize someone is

Playing the same game.

Pretend embarrassment

But I know I’m blushing.

His eyes take an assessment

And he takes a seat on the same bench as I

He scoots over towards me.

I scoot towards him.

Our legs touch.

We make our way to the nearest Starbucks

Each wanting to share a cup of coffee

Feeling at home.
