The City That I Love

Boston has been around since 1630

A place surrounded by water that’s dirty

Although the water is not pristine

The hearts of the people sure are clean

Early on one Marathon Monday

The lives of many turned a dark gray

The bombs went off

Time stopped

Lives ended

And so many hearts needed to be mended

One Boston Day the city grew stronger

Just as a marathon runner’s distance grows longer

And one year later hearts were still broken

But a city of thousands stood up and it was spoken

“Boston Strong”

A saying so wholesome

A city so awesome

The city that I love
