city lights

the city lights are glistening

they remind me of the light of hope

it's so beautiful from a distance

and from where I'm standing I can't see the things

blocking me

from reaching the light

there are so, so many obstacles

and so many hills

my body is broken, and I'm tired of climbing

hope is supposed to be stronger than fear

but for once I'm not afraid

of closing my eyes to the light.
