In the City, On My Own

I was all alone,

But I felt happy and peaceful,

As I looked out the window and saw a beautiful seagull,

I wasn’t looking at my phone.

The boat was rocking back and forth,

It made me feel a little dizzy but I was okay;

I was going into the city by myself today.

It was my first time, of course.

At this moment I felt old;

Like I was on my own.

Just me and the city.

I had no hand to hold,

And for this I felt grown,

As I strolled carelessly through a town unexplainably pretty.
