A City Night

A bird flies down St. Paul Street Looking for somewhere to rest, To escape the ribbon of cars honking. A black Maserati’s engine revs As it speeds through A stoplight turning red, Desperate not to stop. Outside the “Lucky Bamboo” club, The cranberry-red neon sign blinks And buzzes. Its music blares throughout the city. In time, the full moon Reflects off the skyscrapers, The street lights Shine like small moons, Guiding the bird home.
