Civil Rights-An Era That Was

Civil Rights was a moment in history. It was a time that was filled with great misery. Black vs. White was the common theme While peace and prosperity was only a dream. Protests and riots were the norm Since fairness and equality could not take form. Times were harsh and full of hate Because no one stepped up and wanted to be great. Then, came Malcolm and Dr. King Looking to fight back and express their dreams. Marches and rallies are what they led Hoping to cure the disease that had spread. They did all they could to lead the way But their progressive efforts are what led to their dismay. What they did was not taken for granted. Their voices were heard and ideas were planted. Laws were soon made to protect our rights So no man would suffer, neither black nor white. The Civil Rights Era helped change the world. Now, we can live together, every boy and girl. There is still work that must be done To ensure that our future is as bright as the sun.
