Claim Yourself
Sometimes when I look out on society, I see a mirage.
A system where everyone is under the same hallucination
But every illusion is different.
Each person fantasizing to be the person right next to them
Scorning the beauty of their own reflection because
we were taught that beauty is subjective
but the fact is, ourselves is not our own definition.
Blinded by a warped perception showing us the traits we think we need
well you see that
perspective is like being the moon.
Even in the times you look radiant, you feel you are reflecting someone else's light
And when you look inward you only see a meteor floating through the night
Constantly, in the shadows
Revolving around others
Still searching for the ocean you can move just by existing
If you exude confidence you feel out of place
Being up still in the bright light of day
You rule the world where monsters come to play
Looking out at the sun and wishing you too could just burn away.
No one likes to be told that they're wrong,
But you darling, have had your worth all along.
Your light is not an imitation
And you are worthy of adoration.
Now no one likes a hypocrite but when what I see is what I get
You're no counterfeit,
You're an original! No average angel
And that's beautiful!
If you saw what I see in you,
You would never look at yourself and feel blue
You're obsessed with finding what is withheld
But the solution friend,
Is to claim yourself
