Class of 2018

To mom-

The day draws nearer and nearer in which

My flight from your nest interwoven with

Your overbearing affection and care

Must at long last manifest itself;

Not by choice, but rather by survival.

I know you shudder at the prospect of

Unanswered calls, of infrequent visits;

But alas,

Abandonment is a misguided dream

Realized in the midst of your darkest hour.

-Your daughter always
