Classroom Blues

As I sit here in this chair

I try remember the better days of education

The days when teachers taught what they believed, rather than what they are told

They taught things for the enjoyment of knowledge rather than the state test that needs it

As I sit there in this chair

I try and remember what it was like to see students care

the days when students enjoyed learning, before cell phones ruled the schools

When yelling wasn't required to get a class to listen, but the promise of new knowledge could do the same.

Those days have come and gone

Those days need to come back.
