classroom number nine

there is no such thing as limits

even in a closed room

when someone else gives you wings

i was a caged bird that you set free

keeping me close to listen and teach

and you taught me that

no place is silent, no shadows black

you showed me how to hide

but only when i needed to

let me speak in rivers

or the smallest of voices

you gave me the strength to swim upstream

reminded me that i am powerful

and that there is nothing happier

than a caged bird set free

kept close to kind hearts

to listen

and to teach
