Cleaning the Pain

When I can’t speak my mind out loud

A pen is always waiting to burst my thinking cloud.

My thoughts flow to the paper in front of me

The words of the page can surprise me like the South China Sea*.

Truth flows from my hand

The knot in my heart turns to sand

And to my horror, truth, isn’t always beautiful,

But it is always refreshingly plentiful

Poetry taught me its okay to feel bad

Because even though I feel sad

My emotions get can sucked into it

So, I don’t feel as if I’ve been bit

*The South China Sea is one of the most dangerous and unpredictable in the world
