That Clear Drink

I miss the man that I once knew.

His blue eyes shown

As if they were new.

I once could trust him,

yet now I cannot.

He was taken long ago,

long before I knew it so.

Long before I could stop myself

from losing so much.

Long before I could warn myself

of that drink's deathly grip.

Now, I cannot stand to watch.

Those blue eyes have lost their gleam.

And it seems as if

thye will not shine much longer,

that smooth, clear liquid has taken you

deeper, deeper,

far deeper

than I wish to see.
