The Clicking of the Keys

Words fail me when I need them most.

In silence there are thousands of letters,

Lost in the air and floating between thoughts.

But then I need them,

And they disappear.

Millions of phrases,

Sayings,

Wishes,

Poof, gone, into thin air.

The clicking of the keys tells me,

Shows me that they are there

How do I tell them?

Tell how my chest aches,

How my heart screams,

But the mouth stays shut.

The words are there,

Lodged behind tears which will never escape.

But the only witnesses are those keys.

I want to tell them,

I want them to know.

But conflict is hard

I don’t want their hearts to ache,

I don’t want their souls to scream.

So I will remain silent,

Guarded by my smile,

Strengthened by simple words,

And the clicking of the keys.

Pualani Knapp

Hello! My name is Pualani Knapp and to list all of my quirks would take far too much time so I'll simply say I'm a human much like you. My heart lurches and pales just the same as yours though I at times I try to hide that torturous organ away.
