Cliff Dive

Salmon brushed toes curl into summer kissed sands,
unwittingly grasping.

Rays beating down, scorching the ground,
then back to the stars they go dancing.

Feet meet the ledge of an unnerving edge,
tossing pebbles to the mouth of Poseidon.

Vertigo overcomes, as the air flees my lungs,
shaking hands brush a fiery horizon.

Misty breezes rise towards unclouded skies,
born when the waves kiss the silvery stone.

Pulling back to the sea, to the blue and the green,
swells silently fade into foam.

My heart skips a beat, beckoning with feet,
they have wandered too near to the line.

Hands shaking, waves breaking, one deep breath of courage,

one step towards the sun and i'll fly
