CLIMATE CHANGE

Morning comes to us And with it the sun Yawning while brightly saying hi to us And the trees dancing to the tune of the wind They join the merry band I look out my window to see beauty bestowed upon mankind In its rarest of forms To think we would be grateful Enough to be careful Given to us A treasure called land And IQ to explore its ends Yet to justify our acts We use the words economy and research We cut trees in the name of buildings With no replacements we feed on the source of water And with anger and fury The earth replies with fire And in fear the Koalas run for their lives Screaming mama in their hearts We use plastic Nothing wrong with that We litter it everywhere and think we won a lottery Mr. Earth shaking its head it cries in anguish Flooding our streets killing our crops and flocks In response to the choking smell up its nostrills We plough the ground Bombing the rocks that hold it In the name of gold Riches to be spent When we are done to waste is left Expecting the universe to smile Woe to beings called human Earth shouted in pain as Amazon burned to ashes Climate change What a mess Sea level rising in response to poison we work so hard to produce Temperature rises with no backup generator Since all trees been turned to blocks Mountains cry as ice melts from their peeks Beauty of Kilimanjaro high on top withers away As the Ozone dismantles The way forward Who knows of it? Instagram, Twitter flooded with donations after green leaves of Australia caught fire But is money really the only solution Is it the only answer? What do the leaders say? What of those with no Wi-Fi? Or the ignorant with no will to see? Over the years policies have been shoved into our ears But few penetrate the walls around our brains Shutting all of our six senses towards the severity of climate change As it eagerly and with no remorse keep knocking at our doors Cutting should stop Planting should begin Hands should serve in unison each holding a brush Painting the Earth with diversity of colors led by green.
