Climb Down

I climb down all these steps
One by one I trudge along
I think of you and then it pains me less
My painful battle up these flights of steps
I ache and break every single day and night
To climb to where you stay atop your tower
But now I just can’t continue up this flight
I’m lost in thoughts about my lover
I didn’t notice my foot slip
                            But I felt the fall
                                    Down and down I went
                                Two steps at a time
I wipe blood from my head
The floor hits me hard. There is nowhere to go. Nothing to do. But feel the pain of you.
