A Climber
The spring has begun.
Now I will be able to climb it.
With a opening of good weather coming up
this will be my moment.
I have checked my supplies.
My crampons
Wind suit
And book bag are all in order.
Now with my first big step I start to climb.
I climb and I climb
Using all my strength and energy
To push myself that one extra step
I feel the need for oxygen but that does not
Slow me down.
As I thought I reached the top, it
Was just another step.
The pain it took to climb it
I fought it
With tears in my eyes
I persevered
But when I finally reached the top
I knew I accomplished
Something.
The odds were against me
But I made it
It hurt
I made it
I got frost bite
I made it
And it is said I’m a climber
That it was I do
And that’s what I live for
