Clipped
Elbows propped up on the desk; truly a rock and a hard place
Socks wrapped around my feet; did they always feel this tight?
Sweating, Squirming, Itching,
Trapped in this cage made of wood and metal, held together by gum.
Is this what it's like to be buried alive?
Please open a window, please let the bell ring
I'm going to SCREAM!!!
None hear my tribulation, the clock smirks at me
Ticking. Ever. So. Slowly.
But, as I watch, the hands become swords and I grab one, not a moment too soon.
The fighting pirates around me have no hesitation...or mercy.
Feeling the sea on my skin I fly through the water as a dolphin, and take to the skies as an eagle.
So this is what freedom feels like!
I'm a wizard, battling a fiery dragon
I'm a musician, painting the silence
I fill the void with the strangest and most familiar aspects of my mind.
I'm a cat, free to do as I please
I'm the dragon, burning my captors to the ground and flying away to a place I
can never be harmed again...
I'll set off on a journey and see your smiling face when I get back...
But instead I see my unfinished math assignment on my desk.
My socks still have my feet in a choke hold. They're quite relentless.
My hands are like shattered glass.
Trapped in this cage made of wood and metal, wings clipped, here to be conformed to these earthly ways...
A bird may have its wings clipped but its thoughts will never fall from the sky
