Before the Clock Strikes One

Tell me the signs and wonders Above, The power and beauty and strength of love, Show me the worlds great peace and war The hearts of mothers and wives that tore. Grant me the heart to serve and pay The debts my Country did once lay On the shores of foreign long ago, When death and blood did then sow. Compassion does the heart forget In times of trouble and times of fret All hope for a people does seem lost Will they be new by the earth's first frost? Forget me not, forget me true When your heart turns cold and blue Then time itself shall grow withered and old And man's new soul will be of gold. Show me these signs, these wonders Above That power and beauty and strength of love The worlds great peace's and great wars, The hearts of mothers and wives that tore, Show me these things and many more, Before the clock strikes one.
