Clocks

relentless twitching, pulsing

in cookie-cutter intervals

uniform frequency, identical duration

circle, triangle, square-

any shape it comes in,

around and around it goes.

dictating our lives,

making us go in the same circles

it has only ever known.

on and on, until it breaks.

then we get a new one.
