Clockwork
I wish I was all
Gears and levers
Clicking, turning,
Moving together,
Never stopping,
And easily maintained.
I wish I had
A purpose
Like a grandfather clock
That chimes the hour —
Ever reliable,
Ever faithful.
I wish I was
Like clockwork —
Emotionless,
Reliable,
Filled with purpose,
And always on time.
