Close As I Can Get

Why did I begin to write? Problems in the home caused my emotions to become overwhelming Like a dam urging to break. I had to express myself in some way and I simply began to write one day. It was difficult at first, I thought maybe poetry wasn't for me. It started with simple rhymes Ones that dealt with everyday things. Then my first heartbreak came and my words began to pour. It felt natural, like it had always been a part of me and I thought that maybe I just needed the reason, the motivation. Never had I expressed myself so gratifyingly. To this day, I only write when I have something that threatens to burst out or stay in and destroy me... "If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me threatening the life it belongs to." The words pour onto paper and I feel good I reread my feelings in the form of words and I simply feel content... The closest I've ever felt to happy.
