Closed Doors

A door, sturdy from wall to wall
Closed so tightly, afraid it will fall
Supposed to keep the fear outside
Doors create safe places to hide

Leaning against a door earns a shoulder
Something solid to cry upon
Until a demon rams against the other side
Please door, save the place to hide

Using support from your back
Keep out the demon, who is starting to hack
The door starts to budge and fear grips your chest
Time to start hoping for the best

The demon gives up as the door holds strong
The wood seems to sigh back where it belongs
With the demon gone, the fear is still there
Oh what pain the demon could've shared

Settled still against the door
Thankful the demon hadn't protested more
Tears are falling, silent and steady
Back still braced, just to be ready

Slowly calming, yet still frightened as hell
If only someone could wish you well
Life has turned from happy to terror
For this torment, only you can be a bearer

Nothing had happened, just a slight mistake
But thankful for a door with plenty it can take
Door creating a safe spot for no one else
Allowing nothing to break yourself

Feeling relaxed, thankful for closed doors
Keeping you safe from such horrors
A slight step away, but ready to return
As long as the demon doesn't plan the door to burn

Lights go out, and a bed is sought
Not before making sure a door need not be bought
This is why closed doors are a need
A feeling of safety, it must feed.
