Closed Minded

Hiding my brown skin is hard, when it’s all over your face. Fitting into a white world is hard. when you can’t find the space to breathe, to yell, to scream. That’s how I feel. I’m sorry you’re so close minded to see, I wasn’t raised that way. and I’m glad. It makes me stronger. When you think you’re better than me. I may get loud, but that’s because you don’t seem to hear me when I’m talking to you face to face, in my white voice. But then you talk to me with some passive aggressive racist comment and then get surprised when I lash out. I can’t help it. I wasn’t raised or born that way.
