Closest Friend

What is a friend?

Is it someone who lends a hand,

when you fall will help you stand?

A friend is someone who God wanted to send

to you to live life colorfully.

They pull you up

when you're feeling down-

encourage you when others laugh at you like a clown.

They are there to calm your anger and frustration

when you feel as though you're about to erupt.

They are the comfort in the night's dwindling hours,

the piece of peace when your world is upside down.

They build pull you up, not drag you along

like some baggage they forgot to place in storage.

They offer you the chance to seek after your Life's song

supplying the need for momentary  courage.

 A true friend is transparent,

allowing you to see their heart's tyrrant.

Showing no concern for the future

each moment of everyday

is the secret to walking with your best friend, I dare say.

the love they show you is unconditional,

irrational.

The uncertainties that lie ahead are of little value

when that person's with you;

you forget to overthink

life's storms that hope for you to sink.

Through the good, the bad

through the happy and sad,

that person will always be there

not seeking compensation for their share.

A true friend is someone you can't judge physically,

but can measure their virtue by the light

which exposses the darkest of our sins, even by night.

No, you are not alone or forgotten if you don't have  a friend like this.

There's only one life to live.

Is your life just something you can readily give?
