The Closet

Knocks on the door,

surrounded in darkness

and isolation.

I made myself comfortable

and I didn't want to leave

even though I hate it here.

It's two steps out;

but what if people hate me?

What If people's opinions about me,

change?

Voices are getting louder,

the doorknob feels cold,

just one more step,

and I'll be free.

I can finally see the light

around the edges of the door.

This is it.

One last deep breath.

One last negative thought.

One last panic attack.

This is it.

This is who I am now,

I'm gay.
