Closet Poet
If you'd ask me who I am
I wouldn't answer: poet
I'm a musician, athlete, scholar,
Reader, avid writer.
Yet in my darkest hours,
Sometimes I need an outlet.
For heavy things,
Ugly things,
That weigh upon my chest.
And other times when I might burst,
From happiness or excitement;
I let it all gush out onto paper.
And when confused romance,
makes my heart dance,
I string my love like diamonds,
into a phrase.
I love to write stories, but
Poems make words art.
Delicate and Beautiful,
Or Strong and Meaningful;
They inspire you,
Make you sob,
Make you dance,
Change your perspective.
So I place myself upon a throne,
Of my own words.
