Closure...

Thank you.

I shouldn’t give you credit,

But they say give credit where credit is due

Hush!  You don’t deserve a single kind word

Life throws you curve balls and for me that was you.

I guess one could say that I was naïve

Because I believed every word you said.

I thought you truly cared about me,

But now I realize you just wanted me in bed.

You had a girl and messed it up

So you ran to me

I’m not a side chick or a rebound, and I’m not the girl you wanted me to be

So I’m glad I let you fade away because you weren’t gonna stay

You didn’t love me, you didn’t even care

Now I realize that I didn’t feel that way.

I’m not the girl you thought I was nor am I who I used to be,

Surprisingly having you in my life has changed me.

A change I didn’t know you would

Ironically I’m glad you did because you did something that no one else could.

Thank you.

For someone who calls himself “Real”

You turned out to be counterfeit

Were your thoughts and feelings true?

I know the answer and so do you.

Harsh I know! Get used to this crap

You call yourself a rapper… spitting rhymes about purge

But you’re nothing more than a free verse.

Don’t get me wrong, you weren’t all bad

You came into my life for a season

To teach this girl that sometimes love has no rhyme or reason.

Thank you!

Some folk’s roots just run dry

Too bad your heart doesn’t know how to love right!

A woman is more than a piece of meat

Since you can’t comprehend that, in my eyes you’ll never compete

One day your son is gonna ask, “Dad, how do you love?”

And what will you say?

Everyone crosses paths with a “Real”

But it’s really about how we deal.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I see you actually do deserve it

Without meeting you, I may never have found this part of me,

I’m free! Free from your words, your thoughts, and how you made me feel

 I now realize “I’m REAL!”
