clothes
Clothes...
Smooth comfy challis,
Dress above my knees.
Hair flying over my face,
With a cool summer breeze.
Clothes…
What could be so wrong?
What could be the ambition?
If I was happy all along!
If I had no mission!
Clothes…
They say its religion
That should be followed.
Making me a caged pigeon,
That was trained only to be swallowed.
Clothes…
They say its culture,
That decides my behavior.
Than what for is the nature,
When really you feel as a failure?
Clothes...
The way I were them,
Goes against my culture.
The way I fit my body in them,
Goes against my religion.
The way I walk with them.
In order to represent my culture
I should be selected as the worst specimen!
Clothes…
They say a dress
Is not enough
To cover my body;
To cover me
I hear tell.
I cover my legs
With skinny jeans.
I cover my hands
With small long sleeved top.
And I cover my head
With scarf.
And I still stand out in an Islamic Bengali festival
Clothes…
I go to school,
And there I am
Representing my culture,
My religion, and my identity.
Am I doing it right?
Do I represent my culture bright?
Or do I showcase my religion - light?
Clothes…
Definition of my culture,
Existence of my fantasy.
Denial of my reality,
Identity of my nature.
