Cloud- Kathryn Lyons

"People always say I'm like a "cloud."
I just laugh it off, but inside my cry is loud.
Have you ever wondered why I am a cloud?
I hold all the rain, all the pain, and I block sunshine from entering.
Sometimes when I get so heavy of all these thoughts, I start to crack.
Bursting at the seams, you can see, I'm not the person I used to be.
Ppl don't get, I hear what they say, I'm constantly analyzing.
Ppl don't get, I'm drowning in my regrets.
Ppl don't get, I have so much going on in my head.
So worried about my parents, the ones who didn't raise me.
If only you could SEE, I'm fighting everyday to break FREE,
Of this shadow, this cloud, this rain over my head,
And the day I only worry about me.
But that'll never happen.
So laugh at me all you want.
Just know, I don't only use this pen for poems,
I take notes, by separating friends from foes.
And who will walk with me through the storm...
Because one day I will break free, I'll let the sun shine,
And I'll finally take what has always meant to be mine."
