Clouds

The path to righteousness…clouded by toys and boys and angry faces.

Clouded by waking up and rushing and ironing and counting one dollar bills.

Clouded by a feeling of failure by other people’s standards. Clouded by uncertainty.

Clouded by failure by my own standards.

Needing to be right. Needing to follow the rules.

Clouded by taking orders and eggs and a half order of bacon.

Clouded by an increasingly ripped open right shoe and a University degree on a desk.

Bills. Food. Sleep. TV. Coffee. My reflection looks different.

Clouded by a persistent voice saying its all over.

My eyes still move around, and my feet make their pace across a small opening in a congested room lined with rows of people stationary. They are sitting. My eyes look straight ahead out a window. Sunlight cuts through the room and casts my rapidly moving shadow on the floor.
